Student Day: Message from the President of the Republic

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent, Thursday, a message on the eve of the Student Day, celebrated on May 19 each year, which here is the APS translation:

"In the name of Allah, Clement and Merciful,

                Prayer and peace be upon His virtuous Messenger,

Dear Students,

You celebrate the Day of the Student which recalls the historical momentum of students and high school students, determined to join the armed struggle, a certain May 19, 1956, at a time when the glorious war of national liberation unleashed on November 1, 1954, started.

The students celebrate, with great pride, this glorious 67th anniversary, sharing with all young Algerians outside universities, a high level of awareness of the requirements of the economic situation prevailing inside the country and the challenges of the international context, aware of the extent of the efforts made to strengthen the rule of law and consolidate the foundations of governance and transparency in the country.  different levels of decision-making, but also for the mobilization of energies in favor of the achievement of the expected objectives in terms of sustainable development.

As you know, the great steps we had taken for Algeria to regain its influence on the international scene were all the more important because we did not want it to give up its pivotal role, and that we took care to preserve its deserved position in geopolitical balances at the regional and international levels.    

You students, alongside young Algerians engaged in voluntary and associative activities, and those active under the banner of national constitutional institutions (Higher Council of Youth and National Observatory of Civil Society), the living source of Algeria today, an Algeria strong of your awareness, your national commitment, your creative and innovative abilities and your successes in terms of acquiring scientific knowledge and mastering modern technologies.

We will move forward on the path of achieving the strategic objectives of the Nation and preserving its supreme interests, with as a bulwark, our valiant proud and dignified Algerian people, our fiery young people imbued with nationalism, of which you are at the forefront within the academic institutions, artisans of the present and builders of the future.
