Ambassador M. Abdelaziz Benali Cherif attends the BRICS meeting in Rio de Janeiro on 4 and 5 July 2025

The Algerian Ambassador to Brazil, Abdelaziz Benali Cherif, represented Algeria at the 10th Assembly of the New BRICS Development Bank (NDB), which was held on 4 and 5 July 2025 in Rio de Janeiro under the theme ‘Driving development: fostering innovation, cooperation and impact through a multilateral development bank for the countries of the South’.
Algeria's Ambassador to Brazil, Abdelaziz Benali Cherif, said he was convinced that Algeria's membership of this strategic institution would not only strengthen its position in the international financial architecture, but would also add to its dynamism in supporting and accompanying the development plans of many countries in the South.
In his address to the plenary session, the Algerian Ambassador, Abdelaziz Benali Cherif, thanked on behalf of Algeria the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who welcomed Algeria's membership of the NDB in his opening address to the 10th Annual Meetings of the NDB.
On behalf of Algeria, he also congratulated the President of the NDB, Dilma Roussef, on her re-election for a further term.
