Mr. Attaf receives his Somali counterpart

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received Sunday, at the ministry's headquarters, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, who is on an official visit to Algeria.
The two officials continued their talks afterward in the presence of the members of the delegations of the two countries, focusing on the ways and means to bolster bilateral relations and enhance joint coordination on regional and international issues of common interest.
The meeting was an opportunity, to discuss the milestones achieved by the sister State of Somalia in terms of rebuilding strong and unifying national institutions, and to renew Algeria's commitment to supporting the efforts of the Somali leadership to strengthen the foundations of security, stability and development, both at the bilateral level and within the UN Security Council and the Council of Peace and Security (CPS) of the African Union (AU).
At the bilateral level, the two sides agreed on consolidating the institutional structure of cooperation between the two countries and improving the legal framework of their relations.
In this respect, the two ministers signed three legal texts to create an intergovernmental commission, establish a political consultation mechanism and encourage cooperation in training diplomats.
With regard to multilateral cooperation, the talks were an opportunity to stress the commitment of both countries to carry out a higher level of coordination during their current terms at the Security Council, in the service of Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause, for the promotion of African priorities in various fields, and in support of the development and stability in the Sahel-Saharan region and the Horn of Africa.
