Mr. Attaf Meets with the Elected Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

As part of his participation in the 23rd Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on August 27, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Ataf, met with the Secretary-General-elect of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

The Minister of State congratulated the Secretary-General-elect on his election, wishing him every success in carrying out his duties, and reaffirming Algeria’s support and solidarity to enable him to fulfill his responsibilities to the fullest extent

The two officials also reviewed the current state of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the prospects for its work, emphasizing the importance of enhancing its performance and strengthening its role in addressing current challenges, thereby bolstering its ability to serve the interests of member states and defend their just causes, particularly the Palestinian cause, This is in line with the principles and objectives upon which the organization was founded and serves to strengthen unity and solidarity among the nations of the Islamic world.
