Arkab receives the CEO of the Brazilian group WEG SA

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab received, Wednesday in Algiers, the CEO of the "WEG" group, Harry Schmelzer Jr., with whom he discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between companies in the sector and the Brazilian group, said a statement from the ministry.
The meeting took place in the presence of the CEO of Sonatrach, the President of the Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority (ARH) and executives of the ministry, on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding, supervised by Mr. Arkab, between Sonatrach and the Brazilian Group WEG SA.
The two parties welcomed, on this occasion, the results of the visits of WEG officials to Algeria and the many exchanges with companies in the sector, welcoming with satisfaction the signing of the memorandum of understanding with "Sonatrach", according to the statement.
Discussions also focused on examining "new opportunities for developing cooperative relations between companies in the sector and the WEG Group in the field of energy and mining".
The two sides discussed "different areas that offer opportunities to develop partnerships, exchange experiences and find solutions to common interests, especially in renewable energy (wind energy), training and technology transfer," the statement added.
On this occasion, Harry Schmelzer Jr expressed his optimism about the development of a beneficial partnership with Sonatrach, expressing the willingness of the "WEG AS" Group to strengthen its presence in Algeria and create mutually beneficial partnerships with Algerian companies.
The signing of the memorandum of understanding is part of "the strengthening of Algerian-Brazilian cooperation relations in energy and mining, following the meeting granted by the Minister of Energy and Mines to the leaders of the Brazilian Group in July 2022," according to the statement.
